Meet the Committee!

2017 is going to be a year of change at Charles Sturt University Football Club – and the composition of the committee reflects this.

Only three members of last year’s committee remain following the graduation of some previously prominent characters in the CSUFC community.

Meaghan Kempson takes on the role of president following two very involved years in the club – including 2016, where she capably filled the office of female vice-president of the club.

Alex Finall retains the registrar role he covers so dearly as well as the mantle of ‘that guy that will never leave.’

The vice presidents this year are Evie Chalwell and Baden Smith – both of whom make their first appearance on a CSUFC committee, however, bring with them a wealth of experience at CSUFC. Both Chalwell and Smith have taken on coaching roles in past years

Club captains this year are Calum Williams and Riley Smith. Williams will co-coach a first-grade men’s side who were triumphant in last year’s grand final. While Smith is an experienced campaigner and is in her fourth year at the club – notably becoming the first female to play in a men’s side in 2014.

Media, events and sponsorship is a massive portfolio and as such will be manned by a three-person team in 2017. Kyla Turner, Jamiel Zakaria and Jake Rosengarten will be the team to organise your events this year as well as look to change the game as far as media is concerned.

Chris Page will become the first holder of the newly created position of equipment manager. Page coached fourth-grade last year and is already looking to make big changes as far as equipment and merchandise goes at CSUFC.

Another newly conceived position is that of ‘apprentice.’ A junior role which will see a younger member of the club learn the ins and outs of the committee in order to eventually take on a bigger role down the track. Reigning men’s rookie of the year Callum Cauduro will be the first to take on the role.

It’s going to be a big year at CSUFC. Know your committee and don’t be afraid to reach out and talk to them!

Up the Stags and Vixens!
