First Grade Red clinch hard-fought point in season opener against Panorama Black
In their first official outing for the season, First-Grade Red side managed to walk away with a 1-1 draw in their match against Panorama Black.
Tough opposition saw the Stags register a single point, despite many opportunities to score. With temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees celsius and a lack of fitness still lingering among the outfit, the boys did well in their first fixture in the new-look Bathurst Premier League.
Aymon Bertah was the first to find the back of the net for Red in 2017 with an absolute belter nestling just inside the right post – on his debut for the club. The opportunity was created through the vision of veteran midfielder Pierrick Jacquety.
The young talent within First Grade Red has been a talking point among the club and fans this season – some first-year Stags could well prove key to their future results and certainly did so at the weekend.
CSUFC First Grade Red’s fresher contingent consists of Angus Granger, Aymon Bertah, Caillin O’Neill, Dylan Anlezark and Lachlan Balcombe.
Each of these players were instrumental in achieving a result during the Sunday’s match.
With another game to be played on Wednesday night, the fitness and determination of these players should once again prove invaluable to the team’s success.
Up the Stags!
