CSUFC 5th Grade Men Nearing Minor Premiership Title

Charles Sturt University                4 – 0                           Lithgow

Charles Sturt University Football Club has defeated Lithgow 4-0, leaving the club six points clear at the top of the table. Team coach Declan Gilkes now convinced his side can take away the minor premiership.

The boys entered halftime two goals ahead, with Jack Barrett & Will Jones securing the lead. There were missed opportunities across the board, but the team still managed to deter every Lithgow attack.

The second-half saw rookies Connor Robinson & Ben Weller both find the back of the net. Weller managing to drive the ball home into the top-left corner from a penalty strike in the last few minutes.

With only four games remaining in the season for this unstoppable red-and-white outfit, captain Will Flynn had the privilege of entertaining his parents who were among an excited audience. Matt Flynn commented on his son’s footballing ability, after the number #69 dictated midfield play throughout the game.

“That footwork, he got that from me”

The squad looks to have an exciting set of fixtures on the horizon. Bathurst City Red Tops will host CSUFC this weekend, while the dreaded 1st versus 2nd match-up against Macquarie United will be played out in only a fortnight. Up the Stags!
