Three CSUFC teams will take to Proctor Park this Sunday with the hope that they will get to do so once more on the biggest weekend in September.
Third Grade Ladies White, First Grade Ladies and First Grade Men white will each play a must win semi-final with a coveted place in a grand final on the line.
The former will take on top seeded Kinross Wolaroi in a mammoth clash – kickoff is scheduled for 9am.
Evie Chalwell’s side have had an up and down campaign, however, their advancement through the first week of finals is made all the more impressive considering the outfit have just ten players qualified to play through number of appearances.
Coach Chalwell is optimistic about her side’s chances despite their lack of numbers.
“We’re playing with only 10 women this week against the top team, but together they make one of the strongest teams third grade has seen. With 7 of my players being defenders, it’ll be interesting to see how we go up front, but I have every bit of confidence in them to pull through.”
A victory would mark the first time in recent memory that a Third Grade Vixens side has appeared in the final game of the season.
Later in the day, the First Grade Vixens will be in action with designs on a spot in their fourth consecutive grand final. Last week’s 2-1 loss to Panorama saw the Ladies consigned to play a do or die clash with Eglinton to claim their place in the big dance.
Historically, clashes between these two sides have been close fought affairs, so expect an interesting match come Sunday afternoon – kickoff is at 3pm on Field 3.
After being granted a week off, minor premiers First Grade White will take on Cowra in a massive match on Sunday at 3pm.
Finally back to full strength, with the exception of striker Jimmy Shaw, the last remaining Stags side will head into this one full of confidence. A 2-2 draw with fellow premiership aspirants Panorama Red secured the boys the minor premiership and a win here could well see a rematch between the two best teams in the Bathurst Premier League for 2017.
