Jimmy Shaw became the first male CSUFC player to register a hat-trick in 2017 as his 1st Grade White side pulverised Lithgow Workies Black at Proctor Park on Saturday afternoon.
Perhaps even more impressive, Shaw’s treble came in just 13 minutes. The bulldog-like striker nabbed the opening three goals and was done with his scoring efforts by just the 17th minute! He was able assisted by Jake Brown for his opener, while Ollie Briggs and Alec Geelan provided for the frontman’s other two strikes.
CSUFC weren’t done there – not by a long shot.
The rout continued as Jaydon Hannaford earned his side a spot-kick in the 22nd minute, which was comfortably converted by Toby Spora – a rare goal for the strong centre-back and one which ensures his Mad Monday will be slightly more clothed this time around!
Spora then turned provider however, as he split the defence with a marvellous through ball which was slotted into the bottom corner by striker Alec Geelan – who to reprieved himself of a nude appearance on that fateful Monday!
It was to be a six-goal margin at the break however, as Geelan decided to dish up a delightfully chipped path into the path of Hannaford who volleyed home with aplomb.
The Stags didn’t let up after the break, with Alec Geelan again involved. Geelan teed up a lovely ball for midfielder Doug Connor to scoot through and bury the student’s seventh goal of the afternoon.
Not to be forgotten, Jimmy Shaw returned to the fore in the 70th minute. The forward utilised his blistering pace to get to the edge of the box before cutting the ball back for his striker partner Ollie Briggs who made no mistake and added his name to the already extended list of goalscorers.
The 90th minute saw the cherry put on the cake by none other than big centre back Jake ‘Panther’ Brown, who slipped the ball past the keeper following a delightful cross by his fellow centre-back Toby Spora.
